Luke Skywalker had a famous encounter with a wampa in the film The Empire Strikes Back, which resulted in the wampa losing an arm.
In the EU novel Darksaber, Luke Skywalker, his love interest at the time, and a group of big-game hunters again came into contact with the now one-armed wampa, as well as a horde of his angry brethren. Luke and his girlfriend, a, barely escaped from the encounter, while all of the poachers were far less fortunate.
