TIE Advanced
TIE Advanced
The TIE Advanced, also known as the TIE X1, is a fictional starfighter in the Star Wars universe, is an updated, more advanced form of TIE Fighter. In the movie series, its only appearance is of the prototype in A New Hope, flown by Darth Vader as he attempts to stop Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing from destroying the first Death Star.

According to various sources in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the design eventually evolved into the more advanced TIE Avenger, which borrowed several features from the mass-produced TIE Interceptor.

In the X-wing/TIE-fighter computer game series, the TIE Advanced makes several appearances. In these games, it is faster, more manoeuverable, and better-armed than any rebel craft.

The fighter flown by Vader was repaired when he reached an Imperial outpost. It was stowed aboard the Executor and was vaporized when the ship collided with the second Death Star. However in the video game "Jedi Knight: Jedi Apprentice" It is seen in a hanger in Darth Vader's strong hold on Vjun.
