Hutts are large, slimy, sluglike creatures in the Star Wars universe who control a large space empire. They have thick, leathery skin, disproportionally small arms, wide mouths, and large black eyes. Hutts are hermaphrodites and reproduce by fission. The species hails originally from the planet Varl, but their capital is on Nal Hutta. Their language is Huttese, which is similar to Quechua. Although the Hutt Empire is powerful in its own right, many ambitious Hutts move to other worlds to become overlords in organized crime. Most Hutts do not use their surnames, preferring to just be called "the Hutt" ("Jabba the Hutt," for example).
